In the past, Chinese gold ingots (also known as "yuanbao") have been a sign of prosperity since it was a highly-valued currency. Being made out of silver or gold, the weight gave it value when it was traded, and sometimes in gift exchange, they are also used to wish someone luck and intelligence for their children. Since they are now out of use, as a more modernized tradition, origami versions have replaced these hopes of wealth, luck, and well-being, represented in the forms of ingots, stars, and cranes. Stars are a crucial zodiac symbolizing cultural unity and guidance on living a healthy, happy life. Also, cranes are feathered creatures seen in China as legendary status as it embodies peace, longevity, beauty, and balance in one's life.
