Jamini Roy "Handmaiden II" Folk Art

This is a painting of Indian folk art that was stylistically inspired by Jamini Roy, an Indian painter who was one of the most famous pupils of Rabanindranath Tagore, whose artistic originality and contribution to the emergence of art in India remains unquestionable.

Jamini Roy was an Indian painter best known for combining traditional Indian and Western art styles to create unique and complex works. He was most influenced by the Kalighat Pat (Kalighat painting), which was a style of art with bold sweeping brush-strokes. He hoped to persuade a younger generation into pursuing a more Indian form of artistic expression.
