Built out of stone, bricks, or wood, Japanese pagodas are multi-story Buddhist scared towers found all over Japan and other Asian countries that believe in Buddhism. In addition to its beautiful aesthetic, these Buddhist temples and the number of stories are significant as they represent the five elements, the godai. The godai include the following elements: chi (earth), sui (water), ka (fire), fu (wind), and ku (sky). The bottom story of the pagoda represents the earth, and working its way up, the top story represents the sky.

Homemade Pogada Drawing

Artistically used dark pen and intricate color techniques to create a detailed drawing of a Japanese pogada, accompanied with clouds and shades of pink from the sun. Hand-drawn by Raza Khan.
