“This panel is inspired by the prominent visual features of Indian culture that I remember from visiting my extended family in South India. Having surrounded myself in the atmospheres of the beauty salon where brides come to get their mehndi done to being able to see how a silk sari gets to be made, India is a collage of intricate patterns working together to form a sense of harmony. Likewise, I've depicted some, more traditional designs along with my own to present some of the common shapes and people of India in order to connect a vaguer concept of Indian culture to something more specific like my personal experiences.”
