Our Bellevue, Our Culture: Tribal Unities

“Tracing back to the Stone Age, I enjoyed immersing myself into African culture, seeing how they incorporated tribal masks into their cultural ceremonies, rituals, and celebrations. Each of these creations had unique patterns, which I was inspired to replicate but through a pop-culture medium. I was inspired from the meanings each embodied: the spirits of ancestors and control of good and evil forces. In this panel, I depict masks resembling a unified family, immersed in a pool to show an emotional tightness”
